Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the staff at K&E Plastics.

2019 was a very productive year for K&E Plastics.

K&E Plastics added our 2nd 18,000 CFM dust collector to the shop floor. The new dust collector will enhance K&E Plastics leading competitive position of machining glass filled plastics such as G10 and FR4. The new dust collector also increased our capacity utilization by approximately 30%.

K&E Plastics has recently completed our Enhanced Joint Certification Program ( JCP) re-certification. The Enhanced JCP  was a new re-certification process for K&E and DLA and we learned a lot going through the process. Special thanks to our PTAC counselor who helped us navigate the process. K&E Plastics would be happy to share our experience of going through the Enhanced JCP re-certification.

K&E Plastics workforce development initiatives with Mount Anthony Union High School and Hudson Valley community College are starting to bear fruit. For example, K&E Plastics will be participating in an exciting pilot program in the spring with local high school senoirs that will provide a pathway for the students to transition immediately from high school into the local advanced manufacturing workforce.

K&E Plastics was recently awarded a grant through the Vermont Training Program. The grant funds will be used to enhance our collective skill set in Lean Manufacturing with an emphasis on 5 S concepts. Internal training at K&E Plastics is scheduled to commence at the beginning of the New Year.

K&E Plastics was pleased to be invited to NWL’s Epic Award Ceremony in October. The Epic Award was presented to NWL by Raytheon at their Bordentown, NJ facility. “ K&E Plastics has been machining plastic parts for NWL for over 10 years”, said Eric Broderson, President of K&E Plastics. “ The Epic Award is an outstanding honor for NWL and we are very pleased to be a trusted supplier to NWL”

Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification

K&E Plastics has been alerted by our defense contractor clients that the US government is at an advanced stage of designing the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification ( CMMC). CMMC is a unified cybersecurity standard for DOD acquisitions to reduce exfiltration of controlled unclassified information from the Defense Industrial Base.

K&E Plastics has commenced reviewing the requirements and mandates associated with CMMC and Special Publication NIST SP 800-171 and it is our goal to achieve level 2 compliance by July 2020
